Many physicians and clinical practice supervisors are not familiar with role of the Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC).  The mission of OPMC is to protect the public from medical negligence, incompetence or any illegal/unethical practice by physicians.  This lecture with define what is misconduct, repercussions and penalties and suggests how to protect one's medical license.

    • 9:30am-10:30am: "Patient in Focus: A Comprehensive Transition Snapshot" 
    Presented by: RuthAnn Craven - Hixny 
    Effective transitions of care are critical, high-risk periods where fragmented communication leads to poor outcomes. This presentation highlights the vast range of information available in real time and how that information flows among members of the patient’s care team to evolve from a fragmented, disease-focused discharge to a unified, patient-centered care plan that addresses each patient’s complete needs - clinical, behavioral, and social.

      • 10:45am-11:45pm: "The SHIELD Law Enhancements" 
      Presented by: Lance J. Smith, MPA, RHIA, CHPS, CCS-P, CHC, CHPC - THNY Medical Groups 
      New York’s recent updates to its SHIELD Law broaden protections for reproductive health information by fortifying safeguards against disclosure of sensitive patient data, including limiting the release of private medical records and tightening restrictions on out of state subpoenas seeking such information. These enhancements ensure that reproductive health providers and patients benefit from stronger privacy measures.
